Paano makakatipid ang Dep-Ed at mga Magulang sa Online Schooling,

Kung magagawa ng tama ng Dep-Ed at pagiisipang mabuti mas makakatipid pa ang Dep-Ed at ang mga magulang sa paraang online na pagaaral. Ano ang mga kailangang gawin ng Dep-Ed?

1.       Ang Dep-Ed ay dapat gumawa ng site for every grade, (Meaning Grade 1 to 12)

2.       Ang Dep-Ed ay gagawa ng centralize module for every Grade (Grade 1 to 12) iisa lang dapat para sa buong bansa.

3.       Pano ang Sistema? Pag Grade 1 ka sa Grade 1 ka mageenrol and once enrolled magkakaron ka ng access and password sa site ng grade 1, ganun din sa Grade 2 and so on.

4.       Ano ang makikita sa site? Centralized subject and lessons para sa lahat ng mag aaral sa bawat Grade.

5.       Pano malalaman kung talagang natuto ang bata? Every Saturday meron silang actual exam na gagawin sa mga schools kung saan sila located at enrolled, merong time and slot ka ng uupuan so ang mga bata ay aware na kailangan nilang matuto and makapasa sa pagsusulit and on time sa mga pagsusulit.

6.       Pano malalaman ang ranking ng mga magaaral sa klase? Para ma motivate ang mga bata na magaral ng mabuti, magkakaron ng Class Valedictorian, Salutatorian etc. and meron ding Municipal Valedictorian, Provincial, Regional and National Valedictorians with corresponding Rewards, recognition and privileges

7.       Pano makakatipid ang Dep-Ed bilang ahensya ng gobyerno? Dahil centralize na nga ang education system less manpower na ito, taliwas sa kinatatakutan ng mga teacher na maaring sa kanila mapunta ang burden at mga problema nito, dito mapapadali ang trabaho nila, maaring sa attendance na lang at exams sila magiging busy na minsan isang lingo lang  gagawin at siguro sila ang parang hotline ng bawat class na maasign sa kanila.

8.       Paano ang mga batang walang Computer, Smartphone or Gadget para maka access ng Internet? Dito pwedeng makatulong ang mga LGU’s Internet Café’s and Computer shops kung matatandaan napakamura ng rate ng rent sa mga computer shops, dito pwedeng i-tap ang mga shop owners para magturo na rin ng basic computer skills nakakailanganin din ng bawat estudyante pagdating ng panahon na kailangan na nilang mag apply sa trabaho dahil malamang puro computer na rin ang mga kagamitan pagka graduate nila ang maagang pagka expose sa mga computer skills ay malaking bentahe sa mga estudyante.

9.       Pano ang mga lugar na talagang walang Internet connection? Muli Malaki ang magiging papel ng bawat LGU sa aspetong ito, ang bayan ng Gapan sa Nueva Ecija ay nagsusulong na, na magprovide ng mura at mabilis na internet sa kanilang mga nasasakupan, kung kaya ng Gapan malamang kaya rin ng ibang bayan, Political will lang ang kailangan dahil pati naman ang kanilang lugar ay makikinabang din pag meron ng Internet signal sa kanilang lugar.

10.   Paano makakatipid ang mga magulang sa ganitong aspeto ng pagaaral? Napakasimple kahit nung wala pa ang Pandemic gumagasto na talaga tayo sa Baon, pamasahe at iba pang pangangailangan ng ating mga anak sa ganitong sistema ang kakailanganin na lang ng mga magulang ay siguruhing makakaattend ng Online classes ang kanilang mga anak at maka exam sa bawat nakatakdang pagsusulit, dito panatag ang kalooban mo na safe ang anak mo walang bullying or harassment na mangyayari dahil pwede mo naman silang bantayan at maging condition ng kanilang pribiliheyo ang standing or pagpasa nila sa klase.

11.   Ito ay ilan lamang sa mga suhestyon para maayos na makapagaral ang ating mga estudyante sa kabila ng Pandemic, hindi tayo dapat magpatalo sa takot, maging malikhain tayo sa pagharap sa Pandemic para lumipas ito na parang walang epekto sa atin bagkus nakabuti pa sa atin dahil natuto tayong lumaban sa kabila ng suliranin na ito sa buong mundo.

Senior Buddy System will prevent hazing in PMA or any Military or Police Academy.

The PMA can possibly avoid or minimize Hazing thru the system called “Senior Buddy” so how does a Senior Buddy works? In my previous schooling the Army NCO Course in Ft Magsaysay, Palayan city wherein I was a member of Class 82-7, they have something called like “Senior Buddy” wherein we as Juniors unknowingly have Buddy in our Senior class, I don’t how they select or choose our buddies but in my case being the youngest in the class happen to be assigned in the youngest Senior Cadet as my Senior Buddy, but this is unknown to us Juniors until our Seniors are about to Graduate and we to become a Senior soon when the Class 83-8 is about to report, unfortunately the last batch of the Academy as it was soon replaced with probably improved course.

So what is the role of Senior Buddy in the life of a Plebe or 4^th class cadet In the PMA, he actually acts as Guardian Angel or savior or Guidance counselor combined without the plebe knowing it, so it works this way, the incoming 4^th class cadet, or Plebe must have an assigned Senior Buddy among their upperclassmen 3^rd Class Cadets, the role of a Senior Buddy is to make sure that his assigned Junior Buddy can learn as much as he can, receive the maximum rigors of training required of a 4^th classmen or as Cadet without being subjected to an abuse or Hazing.

 So how can a Senior Buddy rescue his/her Junior Buddy if he sees that he/she is being subjected to abuse and or Hazing, he may do it in this manner during times of abuses and or hazing, he may pretend to participate in the abuse by saying “What is your Fault again Mr. You?” then he may say to his Junior Buddy to report to me immediately or whatever way that he can to save his Junior from abuse or Hazing, there must be an added code of conduct for 3^rd class Cadet and up to save their Junior Buddy from possible abuses and or Hazing during his/her stay in the Academy.

So what will happen if the abusers or attackers are from 2^nd class Cadets or 1^st classmen, my suggestion is the Senior Buddy system should extend all the way thru the 1^st class Cadets meaning a 4^th class cadet must have a Senior buddy from all levels in 3^rd class, 2^nd class and 1^st class, meaning if you are a 1^st class Cadet you have 3 Junior Buddy under your watch 2 for the 2^nd Class cadet and so on, this way if the abuser or attacker are 1^st classmen his Senior Buddy from that Class should do his part to prevent the abuse without the Plebe knowing he was being saved.

I am suggesting this because in a premiere institution like the PMA wherein only the best are expected to Graduate and lead in the AFP, the training is really tough, from the entrance exam wherein hundreds of thousands are hoping to join the prestigious core of cadets only about few thousand pass the mark, which is further reduced during Physical Exam, Medical Exam, and many more screening process even when you did make the cut and were able to join the Academy as 4^th classmen the elimination process is still ongoing thru rigorous training, mental training and tough Academic schedule, here even the so called Goat during graduation may end up as Valedictorian or Cum Laude in any prestigious civilian Universities, so the product of PMA is surely a cut among the rest, they were Men separated from the Boys, That is why they are 2^nd Lieutenants upon their Graduation and being leader and saluted to by seasoned NCO’s old enough to be their Grandfather.

But still I do not believe that a death of a Cadet is necessary to eliminate him/her if they think he or she is not fit enough to lead or join the ranks of the AFP hence the role of the proposed Senior Buddy is to advise his Junior Buddy to quit as an alternative, if he thinks that he/she may be a liability of the AFP in the future, otherwise he/she is duty bound to protect his Junior Buddy at all cost not obvious to his/her Junior Buddy, as he or they will be the first person liable in case of something untoward happen to their Junior Buddy, they can determine the level of abuse Base on Command Responsibility, if the victim is a 4^th class Cadet the 3^rd class Buddy will be liable assuming the perpetrators are all 3^rd classmen, but if there was upperclassmen involved like in the 2^nd or 1^st class Cadets like in the case of Cadet Dormitorio all of the buddy will be liable for neglect of duty or any appropriate punishment that the Academy and or the AFP will see fit.

Outdoor Chess Tournament in Luneta Chess Plaza

PCCO (Pinoy Chess Club Online) a popular Chess Group in Facebook, never run out of Chess activities, aside from their regular Online Chess Tournaments that they pioneer in the Philippines, they also venture into over the board tournaments this time the Luneta Blitz Chess Tournament, an outdoor chess tournament, details below: 

This event will now be on its 4^th staging sponsored by former Olympian US based WNM Susan Itaas, with the help of Luneta Chess Club officers led by another Olympiad veteran IM Chito Garma as their President, NA Boyet Tardecilla, Luneta Chess Plaza Officer in charge Ate Perla and Sir Eugene, and of course Dr. Jenny Mayor Dental Clinic.  

PCCO co organize this event to give their online participants a venue to meet and play each other personally, make friends with everyone not just in Facebook and encourage healthy competition among each other, the prizes is just a bonus.

Luneta Chess Plaza is a relaxing place aside from the fact that it is located in the heart of Manila, it is in the center of Rizal Park one of the most visited place in the Philippines, the Chess Plaza itself was covered by trees that serve as it’s shade from scorching heat and the pollution brought about by vehicle emissions around Metro Manila.

PCCO made a great event and venue for its Chess activities in this Luneta challenge, they are the first to introduce Online Chess Tournaments in the Philippines, now an outdoor Chess tournament, it is also worth mentioning here that they are also the first Online Chess Club to be affiliated in the NCFP (National Chess Federation of the Philippines) a feat that only Sir Noel Morales did for the love of Chess, for the readers information PCCO has now almost 9,000 members and most sponsors came from its members.

For interested sponsors they need to inform Sir Noel in advance so that a sponsorship can be possible in their desired date as there are also considerations like the NCFP events and other important tournaments and holidays, so if you wish an event to be played on your birthday as the practice now you need to arrange it to Sir Noel Morales as early as possible.

Online Chess Tournaments in the Philippines

Online Chess Tournament is gaining popularity in the Philippines, introduced by Mr. Noel Morales in his Facebook Group, “Pinoy Chess Club Online” using the platform of Chess.com, it has now conducted numerous Online Chess Tournaments offering Cash Prizes, Chess Materials or even Cellphone load to the winners, there are even incoming tournament that offer Dental Service as it’s prize, it has become so popular that Chess Players, Enthusiasts, and other sponsor have to line up their event for Mr. Noel Morales to calendar it in a way that does not conflict with important Chess event in the country and of course with significant event like the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight, to ensure maximum participation and minimal withdrawal during the event.

It is also become a useful way to celebrate one’s birthday as they were able to share their blessings by sponsoring Online Tournament in the name of the celebrant, the just concluded online tournament last April 30, 2015 is a Team and Individual tournament similar to the ASEAN format wherein there are Team Event and individual winners in one event, sponsored by WIM Cristine Mariano for her sons 1^st birthday;

Truly this event has become so popular and quite interesting even some GM’s are joining the event if their schedule allows them to play, that is why I give credit to the energetic Mr. Noel Morales for finding time to promote chess in his own extraordinary way, squeezing it in his tight schedule (He also officiates in NCFP Tournaments) he also has family business, but still this does not stop him from doing what he love most, playing and organizing Chess. So Chess players we now have an alternative way to play chess aside from over the board and Online platforms like Chess.com and Chesscube we now have the Online tournaments of PCCO (Pinoy Chess Club Online) for now it is only open for Filipino players, but in time I believe it will soon be open to everyone, as long as there are capable sponsor’s that will prefer this kind of event. So Chess players, enthusiasts and sponsors continue to support this noble undertaking it is well worth it and quite satisfying both to play in the event and sponsor one.

The US Chess Championship 2015 and GM Wesley SO

After nine rounds in the US Chess Championship of 2015, Super Grandmaster Wesley So continue to encounter problem after problem in his first appearance in the prestigious US Chess event, first it was rumored that someone tried to sabotage his first venture into the US Chess championship by financing some of GM Wesley’s close relative to be booked right into the venue of the event, the relatives turned out harass GM Wesley right in the first day of the event to the point of making a scene in the venue, for whatever reason, I will no longer discuss it here, but their actions are strong enough to prohibit them near the venue and for GM Wesley to be escorted in and out of the venue.

As an avid fan of Wesley starting when he was then a promising kid, we were then both participant in the Philippine National Open Chess Championship he was then starting to carve a name for himself, I believe he was not even a master then, when suddenly he started taking every strong players on his way to finally earn his place in the Philippine elite of Chess, this dominance was so prominent that he did not give any of his opponent an easy draw until the last round he fight for every point possible in that tournament that earn my respect and made me predict that someday Wesley will be a force to reckon with not only in the Philippines.

True enough he seem to improve in every event that he join and continue his fight for every point style even losing some that are winning or can be easily drawn, except in one tournament where his fans both internationally and in the Philippines questioned his quick draw with a Grandmaster who eventually won the event and Wesley as co-Champion, but his fans did not understand Wesley motive then, as aside from being co-champion he also made another milestone in his Chess career by breaching the 2700 mark considered as the elite level in Chess to date. This because of Wesley’s tremendous fighting character and will to win in every game.  

This caught the attention of highly touted former World Woman Chess Champion GM Susan Polgar to recruit Wesley as Webster University Chess Scholar under her SPICE training program that further enhance Wesley’s Chess career and catapulted him to as high as number 6 in the Fide ratings list after winning the First Millionaire Chess though, he decided to forego his studies and give up a lucrative Chess scholarships in Webster University to turn full time Chess Professional.

Now barely few months after turning pro, he is now in his most difficult times of his Chess career in the present tournament that he is playing the US Chess Championship of 2015 he already suffered 4 setbacks the last is a forfeited game against GM Akobian allegedly for writing reminders for himself, that cost him the point and the game, defending on the result of the last 2 games of this tournament, this may turn as Wesley’s worst tournament performance after breaching the 2700 mark, at one point in his career there was this unbeaten streak that Wesley holds as his credential to gain more invitation and maintain his steady rise in the Fide rating list.

If ever there really was a plot to sabotage Wesley’s first venture into the US Chess Championship, it is by far successful by making a dent in Wesley’s sterling Chess career at least in this tournament, but knowing Wesley since his younger days and as an avid fan, I sincerely believe that Wesley will recover in no time, and bounce back from his usual form that would erase the stigma out of this disastrous event.

There is no doubt in my mind that minus distractions Wesley could have win the event or in a better position right now, he is 4.5/9 the tournament leader is 6.5 points just imagine if Wesley could at least draw all the 4 lost games, and let me remind you that when Wesley is in his true element he hardly concede a draw.

2 years of Syrian Conflict

The conflict in Syria is now on its 2^nd year with an end to it still not clear as opposition forces apparently gaining more grounds as the conflicts progress, the situation in Syria now is the northern part controlled by the opposition forces, while the south continue to be the bastion of forces loyal to Assad.

The effect of war is now highly visible in this country, UN figures says that there are now about 700 thousand casualties in this 2 year war and what is alarming is that half of this is civilian that includes women and children.

 

About 1 million of its citizen flee to neighboring countries to avoid the brutality of war and about 2 million more are displace in their war torn country.

 The effect of war can never be quantified in basic numerical terms as Syrian’s are now at a loss on where to go.

In the northern section which is under the control of the opposition with support from the residents are not well, as sporadic air raids continue to harass the opposition forces and their supporters.

While in the south, which is the stronghold of the ruling party the situation is not even better as it is likely to abuse and harassment by the forces loyal to Assad.

The war is tearing the country up the longer this conflict goes on the greater the damage to Syria and its citizens nobody wins in war everybody loses in it. How many more years until the head of opposing forces in Syria realize the extent of damage that they are creating for their countrymen?

 

The answer is nowhere in sight with both Russia and China backing the leadership of President Assad and the UN and citizens in Northern Syria shifting their support to the opposition the US did not commit to any military action against the leadership of Assad, apparently the US is now more prudent in getting involved in any middle east war after Iraq and Afghanistan.

The stalemate in Syria will only lead to more death and abuses in the future. Unless the leaders of the opposing parties set-out and resolve their differences under the auspices of neutral arbiter like the UN.

This could be done if the major supporter of Syria will convince the opposing forces to resolve their differences peacefully. A win-win situation must be formulated quickly to avoid the Syrian conflict escalating further.

 

In war the citizens of the participating country is the most severely affected, I hope we learn the lessons in the two former World Wars, and we should take a concerted effort to avoid this 2 years of Syrian war escalated to its neighboring countries and eventually in the World.
