Strongest Chess Engine To Date

The strongest Chess Engine as of today Jan 20, 2012 is Robbolito 0.10 based on my latest test for engines, Houdini 2.0, Deep Rybka 4.1, Houdini 1.5, Stockfish 2.2, Critter, Fire, Robbolito 0.10 and the newest Fritz 13 super program.

The super engine tournament is played in a double round robin of 1 min time control per engine/Program and Robbolito 0.10 both top the 2 stages of the tournament with Houdini 2.0 coming a close second, in an Engine Match Robbolito seems more powerful, in 30 game match between these two super engines Robbolito 0.10 demolished Houdini 2.0 by a score of 22 wins 4 draws and 4 losses in a 30 game match of the same time control. Other engines could not even do well as Houdini 2.0.

To date I am set to test these engines in a higher time control in which I believe commercial Engines Houdini 2.0 and Deep Rybka 4.1 would certainly make their mark because of improved programming, based on my observation these engines cope up faster with their nemesis so I believe in due time their better programming will prevail in the long run.

Again these only prove that Chess engines have learning capabilities more superior than humans, engines play almost flawlessly but still even in precise play engines still find a way to win decisively even in constant variations.

What is a constant variation? These are series of moves that engines both play as black or as white yet in this Situation Robbolito 0.10 manage to win convincingly against Houdini 2.0 in their 30 game matches.

Again I am not writing these to degrade Houdini 2.0 and Deep Rybka 4.1 the most expensive Chess engine in the market as well as Fritz 13 who reputedly the most advanced Chess program to date, but to provide a better alternative for players who cannot afford expensive Chess programs and engines to date, the key is to constantly use these engines (thru Engine tournaments and Engine matches) and activate its learning capabilities for the engines to constantly improve.
