How to Write Articles That Get Attention: A Start

If you have written a piece that was boring to write, that you find boring to read, and that you find boring to revise, then here's a little hint for you: it's probably
boring.

If you're writing about something whose subject bores you to tears and you can't find a way to make what you're writing more interesting to you while you're writing it, then odds are excellent that what you're writing will probably send your readers to a soft, deep, heavy sleep. The key thing to know about how to write articles that get attention is that they have to be fun.

It is true: some of the topics about which you will be writing are not so much fun. If that is the case, then you should probably not opt to write that particular piece.

Generally speaking, readers will allow for the first twenty words or so before they give up on an article, and considering that most "editors" online are really only
considering word count and keyword density, most of the time you only even have to worry about the lead-in to the rest of the piece if your aim is simply to fill space.

On the other hand, space-filler articles (like one that I once wrote about the fecal matter of house cats, for instance,) tend not to get people repeat gigs, so you're
probably better off leaving pieces whose titles don't interest you to let some other writer handle it. Some people find everything interesting, even cat litter.

On the other hand, if you stick to topics that seem interesting to you at the onset, then you won't have to worry about having to make too great an effort to be
interesting.

There's no real magic to writing attention-grabbing material, no matter what an e-book salesman or internet marketer will try to tell you in order to click on their
"donate" button.

Honesty and engagement, though, are key: if you want people to be interested in what you write, you have to be interested in what you're writing.
